Aquamation

The first question is easy to answer. Sheila and I have been searching for an alternative to cremation for the last 7 years. It is our belief that there is a better, healthier, and environmentally friendlier option.

We asked ourselves, “If we personally would not want to live next door to a crematorium, how could we possibly subject any of our family, friends, and neighbors exposure to these environmental hazards?”

We have had many people pressure us to put in a local crematorium, but we couldn’t, with good conscience, as we believed that the personal health and safety of those around us was more important. So we made a journey to find this wonderful alternative that is so environmentally friendly, and poses no health risk to those of Central Newfoundland. It took 7 years of investigation and preparing for this.

This process leaves nothing to go into the atmosphere, there is no flame or smoke to breathe in, hanging in the air. You will get back only your loved one. When using flame, ashes range from grey to black and though technicians try to recover all the cremated remains it is not possible to recover them all from a flame retort. With Aquamation 100% of the remains are returned to the urn.

The second question on What is Aquamation, is in the name. Water is used instead of Flame. It is a gentle, respectful, eco-friendly alternative. This is not an acid it is an Alkali. This process uses a solution of 95% water and 5% alkali. Aquamation uses the same alkalis used in common cosmetic products, body washes, shaving creams and food preparations.

With the death rate so high in the last couple of years due to Covid alone, people living next to crematoriums have been subjected to their heavy use.

When using our system there is no flame, there are no harmful chemical emissions. Aquamation it is a gentle and respectful process for your loved ones.

With flame cremation it is not always safe to handle ashes as they are not pathogen and disease free. Flame does not kill or eliminate certain diseases. With aquamation it produces a completely sterile solution that is absolutely 100% free of pathogen and disease and 100% safe for you to handle as it is simply bone mineral.
