RICHARD WILMONT DAKIN
1928 – 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of the Richard Wilmont Dakin announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Care Center in Springdale on July 8, 2015 at the age of 86. Richard was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Harry’s Harbour United Church. He retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1974 (served for 20 years) and the Core of Commissioners in 1994 (also served for 20 years). Richard was predeceased by his wife Merle, his mother Mae, his father Coleman and brother Herman. Left with fond and loving memories is his sons-Laurie Dakin of Petawawa, Ont and Chris Dakin (Wilma Hopman) of Lunsdowne, Ont; daughters-Joanne Sharpe (Eric) of Harry’s Harbour and Betty-Ann Aucoin (Jerry LaCroix) of Calgary, AB. Also leaving to mourn are 2 sisters Irene and Helena; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Emma O’Rourke will conduct a celebration of life service at Central Funeral Homes in Springdale on Monday, July 13, 2015. Interment will be at Freeport, Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
