Obituary for Rebecca Winters (Squires)

Rebecca Winters (Squires)
REBECCA WINTERS

Passed peacefully away at the age of 100 years in the presence of family, on July 10, 2016 at the Central Health Hospital, Grand Falls-Windsor. Rebecca was deceased by her parents, Enos and Elizabeth (Seabright) Squires; husband, Abel Stratton Winters in 1994; infant daughter, Emily Yvonne; sisters, Effie (Allen) Smith and Janette (Andrew) Lane; Brothers, Hallett (Mildred) and James (Gladys). Sisters in-law, Laura (William) King, and Eslie (George) Taylor; daughter in-law, Mary White, son in-law, Thomas White, and granddaughter Carolyn (White) Perrier.

Left with fond and loving memories her four daughters, Audrey, Velma (Roger Loyer), Erma (William) Perry, Lorraine (William) Osmond; her two sons, Hallett (Elizabeth Penney Goodwin) and Frederick (Tenna Osmond); Her grandchildren, Edward (Kathy Goulding) White, Rodney and Jeffrey Perry, Timothy and Michael Osmond, Mark Winter, and Kathy (Mark) Legere, and great-grandchildren, Kris (Kandi) White, William (Melissa) White, Adam (Holly) White, Rebecca, Victoria, Kira, Ryan and Cody Perry. Justine (Travis) Kolausok, Dylan Aubin, Thomas (Penny Thislle) Boone; Her great-great grandchildren, Aaden, Ella, and Tanner White, Damon, Roman, Sienna Kolausok, Cameron, Jack, and Sam Boone. Rebecca had several nieces and nephews including special nephew, Graham King.

Mrs. Winters, born in Botwood in 1915, moved to Millertown at an early age with her parents, when in later years married Abel Winters and raised their family. A devoted home-maker she was quiet, shy, but firm on discipline-gentleness without word. When time permitted she enjoyed the organ, accordion, and harmonica. In later years, following her husband’s retirement, traveling in their camper is how they spent summers, renewing and making new friends, and in advancing years enjoyed her many great-great grandchildren as they gave her joy and laughter.

A prized possession was the congratulatory message received from Her Majesty The Queen on her 100th birthday.

Rebecca was a resident at the Twin Town Manor since 2006 where she soon became a favorite with the exceptionally caring staff. Never wanting to impose she would often complete personal things prior to staff schedules. The care givers were always kind and loving. Having enjoyed good health during her many year, she led a loving life of dignity, fun and warmth.

Donations may be made to Memorial United Church or to one’s choice.

Cremation has taken place with interment in the United Church Cemetery, Lewisporte. Urn-bearer, Erma Perry.
