Obituary for Florence May Jenkins (Grimes)

Florence May Jenkins (Grimes)
Florence loved the simple things in life. One of her favorites was spending time at her cabin in Bob’s Cove. Whether it was having a campfire or having potlucks with the cabin gang. She always looked forward to her New Years Eve gathering with food, fireworks, family and fun at the Penneys. She was employed with Hewlett Group Ltd. where she worked as an accountant for the past 42 years. Florence always looked forward to watching her favorite TV show (Coronation Street ) every night and heaven forbid should anyone speak during that half hour. But most of all her most favorite thing was planning her next vacation with her daughter Tara. Florence has travelled many times over the years to places such as California, Jamaica, Las Vegas and her favorite place, Cuba. Even throughout her time while battling her illness. She was a fighter and a great inspiration to all who knew her.
Florence passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on September 27, 2016 at the age of 62. She was employed with Hewlett Group Limited where she worked as an accountant for the past 42 years. Florence was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Grimes; and her in-laws Steadman & Marjorie Jenkins. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband Bruce and her daughters-Patty-Lynn Oxford (Richard) of Springdale and Tara Jenkins (Riley Roo-pet) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn are her only grandchild-Joshua; her father, Ronald Grimes; brothers-Frank Grimes (Gertie), Dennis Grimes (Barbara), Ronnie Grimes (Donna), Ernie Grimes (Surina), Daniel Grimes (Charlene); brothers-in-law-Melvin Jenkins, Robert Jenkins (Nina), Barry Jenkins (Michelle), Don Jenkins (Kami); sisters-in-law-Diane Penney (Bax) and Beverly Martin (Keith); her 8 nieces, 10 nephews, 5 great nieces and 7 great nephews as well as her special friends and co-workers.
The families of Florence would like to express thanks and appreciation to all those who helped during the days following the loss of our wife, mother, sister, grandmother, sister-in-law and aunt. To relatives, friends, and neighbors who visited, we thank you for your acts of kindness, love and support. Thank you to all who phoned, sent meals, emails, on-line condolences, cards of sympathy and floral tributes. Donations to Central Paws in Florence’s memory are also greatly appreciated because of her great love for animals, especially her 2 fur babies, Abby and Lexie. Majors Collin and Jacqueline Abbott for a beautiful service; Central Funeral Homes for their professional staff and kindness; all the doctors and nurses that treated her with great care. The out pouring of love and support following her death demonstrated exactly how much she will be greatly missed.
