Gerard Stephen  Cantwell
The family of the late Gerard Stephen Cantwell sadly announce his passing at the age of 85 years on Thursday, October 6th at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor. He is predeceased by parents James B. Cantwell and Bridget (Martin) Cantwell, sisters Regina Zwicker, Marie Young, brothers James, Bernard, Kevin, and Vincent Cantwell and long-time companion Joyce Reid.

Left to mourn: brother Clarence; daughters Deborah (Rick) of Portugal Cove, Lorraine of Paradise, Diane (Harold) of Conception Bay South, Colleen (Brian) of Red Cliff, Jacinta (Jack) of Los Angeles, California, Paula (John) of Grand Falls - Windsor, son Gary (Jodelle) of Red Cliff; grandchildren Jabez, Jodi, James, Keith, and Lucas; great grandchildren Denika, Isaac, Brady, Dylan, Alexis, and Dustin. Also left to mourn a large number of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Gerard was an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed fishing, walks in the woods especially along the Exploits River. He had a great sense of humour, a quick wit and zest for life. He also loved to read and had an amazing ability to recite limericks and poetry and will be forever remembered for his great love of music, and his incredible ability to whistle and sing.


Pallbearers are Harry Husk, Brian Hunter, Jabez Hunter, John Butler, Keith Cantwell and Tony Cantwell. Honorary pallbearer is brother, Clarence Cantwell.


No flowers by request; however, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Grand Falls - Windsor.


Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
