Obituary for Dianne Sandra McFarlane

Dianne Sandra  McFarlane
Passed peacefully away on Saturday March 14, 2015, Sandra Dianne McFarlane, at the intensive care unit in the Health Science Complex in St. John's, NL. Dianne as she was known to her friends was in her 71st year.

Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 46 years, Dr Gerald John McFarlane, two sons and one daughter: Sean Michael and wife Diana Perry McFarlane (children Justin and Paige); Christopher Damien and wife Lisa Taylor McFarlane (children Davin, Miren and William) and daughter Erin Jennifer and husband Forest Colin Nymark (daughter Anja). Also leaving to mourn are her four sisters; Gayle, Judy Lynn, Dauna and Susan and their families.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dianne moved to Truro, Nova Scotia at an early age. She graduated from the School of Nursing at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax in 1966, married Gerald in 1968 and subsequently moved to Grand Falls, Newfoundland. With her first born Dianne decided to forego her nursing career and devoted her time to raising her family full time.

Over the years Dianne took an active role in Figure Skating, The Central Newfoundland Visual Arts Society and “The Happy Matters” of the Rug Hooking Guild of Newfoundland. For over 15 years, Dianne has expressed her energy and love for creativity in teaching painting classes for a wide range of students in oil, acrylic and water colour techniques, something which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Cremation has taken place and visitation will be on March 23 2015, from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. and from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Central Funeral Homes, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 24, 2015 at 7 pm at the Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception on Church Rd. in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
