Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Elsie Grimes can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

1918 – 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elsie Mary Grimes announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the age of 101. Elsie was a member of the United Church. She was predeceased by her parents, Naomi & Walter Weir; her husband, Ralph Grimes; sisters-Daisy Jones, Dorothy Wiseman, Mildred Stone, Ruth Higdon, Lillian Stone, Shirley Oxford and Pearl Rowsell; great granddaughter Julia Croucher and great great granddaughter Ciara Jenkins. Left with fond and loving memories are her children Hedley Grimes (Sadie) of Springdale, Evelyn Rideout (Ross) of Robert’s Arm and Joan Morey of Robert’s Arm. Also leaving to mourn is her sister Clementine Roberts of Buchans; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. Rev. Rachel Robinson will conduct the funeral service from Central Funeral Homes in Springdale on Thursday, May 14, 2020 for immediate family only. Interment will be at the United Cemetery in Springdale. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
