OWEN GEORGE PIERCEY
1935 - 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Owen George Piercey announce his passing at his home in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on November 2, 2019 at the age of 84. George was a member of the Memorial United Church, Memorial United Church Men’s Choir, Independent Order of Oddfellows #2N for 60 years, and the Masonic Lodge Northcliffe #1086 for 47 years. He retired from Abitibi-Consolidated in 1991. George is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Doris Piercey, brothers, Reginald, Ralph, and Milton, and sister, May (Tot) Nesbitt. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Elizabeth, daughter, Peggie Jayne (Carson) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and granddaughters, Carla of Toronto, ON, and Kirsten (Aaron) of Fort McMurray, AB, son, Blaine (Philomena) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and granddaughter, Jennifer (Shane) of Fort McMurray, AB, son, Lorne (Shelley) of Halifax, NS, and grandson, Owen (Autumn) of Halifax, NS. Also leaving to mourn is his sister, Betty (Dennis Beatle). Rev. Kim Waite will conduct the funeral service at the Memorial United Church in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Urn bearer will be his grandson, Owen Piercey. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Memorial United Church Men's Choir - Dave Dawe and Vince Christian, members of the Independent Order of Oddfellows #2N - John Locke and Neil Rowe, and members of the Masonic Lodge Northcliffe #1086 - Walter Barrett and Gerald Thompson. Interment will be at the Interfaith Cemetery, Grand Falls-Windsor. Special thanks to the E.R. physicians and nurses, Dr. Sam Ralph, and Ruth Wells, palliative care nurse, for their exceptional care throughout Dad’s illness. Flowers gratefully accepted by the family, or donations may be made in his memory to the Memorial United Church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
