ARTHUR JAMES CARAVAN
1924-2020

Jim Caravan, 95, passed away on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020 at Mill Creek Care Centre in Barrie, Ontario. A native of Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland, Jim was well known and loved in the community and was a respected member of the Memorial United Church, where he worshipped through song in the men’s choir for 25 years. He met the love of his life, Doris, in Grand Falls and together they raised three children, whom he dearly loved. Jim worked in the paper mill for 40 years before retiring in 1987 and stayed in Grand Falls until 2015 when he and Doris moved to Ontario to be closer to their children. He is now with his parents, Stephen and Emmie, brothers Gus and Steve and sister Jean. Jim is survived by Doris, his wife of 66 years, son Bob (Rochelle), daughter Sandy (Paul), son Ron, brother Bill, grandchildren Matt (Saara), Kim (SangJun), Erin (Luc) and Kevin, great-grandchildren Henry, Celeste and Gabriel and many other relatives and wonderful friends. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17th at Central Funeral Home in Grand Falls-Windsor, followed by a funeral service at the Memorial United Church on Wednesday, March 18th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial United Church building fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
