Orville (Orv) was born in Grand Falls on October 20, 1943. He passed peacefully away at home in Grand Falls-Windsor, surrounded by his loving family and friends on November 15, 2019 at the age of 76. Upon completing High School, Orv joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. After three years he left the Air Force and enrolled at Memorial University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (Education) Degree in 1970. He taught at Booth Memorial in Windsor for 30 years and retired in 1997. Although he left the Air Force he never left the service. He continued being an active member of the Reserves in the 2nd Battalion, Royal Newfoundland Regiment. He was the Commanding Officer of the RCSCC Windsor Sea Cadet Corps in the early 80's. Orv was a life-long member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12 and received his 50 year pin in 2015. Orv participated in many groups and activities throughout his life. He enjoyed curling, scuba diving, line dancing, painting, fishing, hunting and playing guitar with his friends in the guitar group Never Too Old. He was an avid reader and very interested in genealogy. Orv was the computer Web Master for the local Family Tree Genealogy group for many years. Throughout most of his years, his happy place was spent with family and close friends at Badger Lake. Orv loved life and was very well known for his sense of humour and wit. He is predeceased by wife Olive G (nee Noseworthy) Reeves, parents Orville and Mamie (nee Thomas) Reeves, and brother Gordon W. Thomas, and sister-in-law Linda (Laverne) Paul. Left with fond and wonderful memories are his loving companion, Jean Thomas, sons Richard(Paula) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and Roger(Stephanie Lilly) Reeves of Paradise, NL, grandchildren Melissa (Donnie) Draper, Nicole Reeves, Megan Reeves, Tayler Reeves, James Reeves, great grandchildren Rian and Abigail Draper, sister-in-laws: Sharon(John)George of Harbour Breton, NL, Marina(Norris) Eaton of Pasadena, NL, Mary Lou(Robert)Dawe of Antigonish, NS, Margie(Gary)Fewer of Pasadena, NL, Linda Thomas of Trenton, ON. and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Rev. Robin Trevors will conduct the funeral service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Interfaith Cemetery, Grand Falls-Windsor. NL.
