Hospital Visit

When I was four years old, I had to be hospitalized in Grand Falls for a kidney disorder. My parents, Hayward and Phalma Hobbs (Uncle Rex’s sister and husband) had many children back home, so they couldn’t stay with me. I was very lonely and homesick. One afternoon, I looked down the hall and saw the wonderful and familiar shape of Aunt Rose walking towards me. She was carrying a paper grocery bag full of goodies: chocolate bars, snack cakes and potato chips. I was overjoyed. It was thrilling to have the goodies, but even better to have Aunt Rose, with her ready laugh and no nonsense attitude, come see me. I was so happy. I didn’t want her to go. She couldn’t stay, but she made me see that family was always there for each other, and I would never be really alone. Thank you, Aunt Rose, and bless you.
