Condolence: Just seeing your message you sent me about Jack. I am very shocked and saddened to hear about his passing. We had so much fun on our vacation on the DRL Bus. We became best friends from the first day we met. The both of you were so much fun together. Jack was a real gentleman and so soft spoken.I am sure he will be greatly missed in your town because he was such a socialable person. May God Bless you and your family and give you the courage and strenght to carry on at this very difficult time.Hold on to all the wonderful memories of Jack and I am sure there are many. Also, I am sure you have so many friends and family to surround you which will help you get through this very sad time.My deepest condolence to you. Hugs, Joyce.

Condolence: Mavis and Mac : It is with a heavy heart that I write this message expressing our deepest condolences to you on Jack's passing. We have known Jack since Ivan started working with him in 1974 but it seemed that in the last few years we really came to know you both in a more sociable way when we would meet and chat at social gatherings. He will be dearly missed.

Condolence:
Jack and I have known each other for 80 years !! Grew up a few doors apart in Millertown, and that was uptown Millertown,- not downtown :) Seems our lives have followed a pattern of close association, different paths for awhile, then a reconnection. We worked together for 4 years in the late 50s when Jack and Mavis were living in a REWA house in Bishop Falls, ( and cold winter drafts could raise the canvas flooring ! ). Isabel and I married and were away from Grand Falls for 7 years. Then instant reconnection at work and socially. ( By now Mackie was the Wayne Gretzky of the local pee wee hockey league. There are trophies ! :) ) Jack and I worked side by side for 20 yrs before I moved to St John's. So many wonderful memories from those years. Without any doubt Jack was the most conscientous and loyal employee that I ever worked with. But it's the personal Jack that I most remember, times spent together, visiting each others homes, Jack spending time with my children, all of whom remember Jack and Mavis with affection and have recalled with me warm memories of Mr Woody. Walking thru my mind now are memories of a time when Jack, Gid Samms and I were in Twillingate when the ice moved in and blocked the harbour.Much like this spring. This was in the days before the causeway when access was by ferry. So there we were for the best part of a week of sunny days, exploring every nook and cranny of the island. We were like kids with an extra break from school. No cell phones in those days, thank God, -- out of contact with head office and no choice but to live in the moment. Tough duty that ! Warm memories, great days, great nites.
Lots of memories but I've rambled on perhaps far too long.
In later yrs we've stayed connected with phone calls. Wishing now I had called more often. Too often we don't take the time to reach out to each other like we should.
Heartfelt condolences to Mavis and Mac, to Margie and Toots, to Grant and Morgan.
Will always think of my friend Jack with affection and respect. Truly a good man.
Eric
